Joan Clark joined the Texas Health Resources leadership team in March of 2008, assuming overall responsibility for the nursing enterprise across the Texas Health Resources System. Texas Health Resources is comprised of 14 hospitals and 3355 licensed beds. In her system role, Clark has strategic responsibility for advancing nursing initiatives and represents nursing at the senior executive level.
Prior to joining Texas Health Resources, Clark served as Senior Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She has also served as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Baptist Hospital of Miami, part of Baptist Health South Florida, the largest healthcare system in south Florida. During her tenure there, Baptist Hospital twice received Magnet Nursing accreditation, one of the highest designations for superior nursing service at a hospital.   Prior to Baptist Health, Clark served as nurse executive at Floyd Medical Center in Rome Georgia, and at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.
Her clinical nursing background is primarily in critical care.   Clark’s academic experience arose from 16 years at Shands Hospital of the University of Florida, where she worked in a variety of capacities as a staff nurse and then manager, including information technology, strategic development, and performance improvement.
Clark has a B.S. in health care administration from St. Joseph’s College in Maine and a MSN from the University of Florida. She is a graduate of the Johnson and Johnson Wharton Fellowship and is an ANCC Magnet Appraiser.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Organization of Nurse Executives, where she has served as national board member, committee chair and representative, the American Nurses Association, American College of Healthcare Executives, Sigma Theta Tau, as well as other specialty organizations. She has been active in Rotary International and other community sponsored activities.

Sally is  4th generation Texas Nurse and a second generation CNO. She is a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. After receiving her BSN in 1980, she continued her graduate work with a significant interest in leadership and management of people orientated businesses at St. Edward’s University. In 1995 she completed her Master’s degree in Human Services Administration.
 

Sally is currently the Chief Nursing Officer at St David’s South Austin Hospital in Austin, Texas. In the last five years, this facility has been nationally recognized for outstanding clinical performance over 10 times. Sally has been in this dynamic leadership role for 19 years. Prior to this position, she had a rapidly progressive leadership career path with her clinical focus in critical care.

Some of the numerous appointments and awards that define her career include- a position paper on strategic planning and organizational management structure adopted by the National Advisory board, the HCA leadership award, a gubernatorial appointment to the Texas Department of Insurance Board, Numerous keynote speaker addresses for National organizations as well as multiple university and private sector board appointments.

 

She is married to Andy, a high tech executive. They have two sons, and enjoy living near Lake Travis.
