Employing a Nurse Practitioner Outside of Scope: Organizational Risk and Responsibility

You often hear nurse executives voicing concern over nurse practitioners who may or may not be practicing out of scope. “Can an FNP work in the ICU?” “If an Adult NP only sees chronically ill patients can they work in the emergency department?” “How do I deal with the CEO of our hospitalist group when they say, don’t worry we will mentor them?” Education, certification and scope of practice for the nurse practitioner should guide the NP role. This webinar will assist you in making the right employment decisions as well as identify risk management strategies. Experts including educators, nurse executives and a representative from the Texas Board of Nursing will advise participants about these thorny issues. Case studies based on commonly asked questions will allow participants to apply knowledge gained to solve problems within their own organizations.
